  • The new Maserati Quattroporte 3 was first shown on the Torino Motor Show in 1976, the design was by Giorgio Giugiaro and his company Ital Design. Giugiaro was also responsible for the design of the sensational Ghibli, but he exterior of his new creation was less spectacular. It was a monumental car with his cut edge design and the interior was made with huge quantities of leather. Most cars had 4200ccm engines, but some had the bigger 4900ccm engine. About 85% were equipped with an automatic gearbox. About 2200 cars were built.
