The Alfa Romeos of the 2000 ( 102 ) series were developed from the Alfa 1900. The engine, the differential, the front and rear suspension and the brakes were modified and are in most cases not compatible to the Alfa 1900. The gearbox was an entirely new construction and had Porsche type synchro rings. It was later used in the Giulietta, the Giulia series until 1993. The Spider had a self-supporting body structure by Touring and 3443 cars were built.
