Maserati Merak

The Merak was introduced 1972 as a reaction to the new competitors from Italy, the Ferrari Dino and the Lamborghini Uracco. The car was not named after a wind, it was named after a constellation. The body was identical to the Bora. Behind the doors 2 struts gave the car a much lighter design. Two engines were offered, a 3 l version and for Italy a small 2 l version due to tax regulations. In total 1809 cars were built
