The new Maserati Bora was the first GT with a center engine and was launched 1971. The Design was by Giorgio Giugiaro, who became with his comapny Italdesign the most important designer of the following 2 decades. The new Maserati was named after a wind in the Balkan mountains. The Bora was first offered in the 4700 version, later in the 4900 version. In total 524 cars were built.
