The Alfa Romeos of the 2000 ( 102 ) series were developed from the Alfa 1900. The engine, the differential, the propshaft, the front and rear suspension and the brakes were modified and are in most cases not compatible to the Alfa 1900. The gearbox was an entirely new construction and had Porsche type synchro rings. It was later used in the Giulietta, the Giulia series until 1993. The Sprint had a Bertone body and was the design predecessor of the Giulia Sprint GT which was introduced in 1962. 700 cars were built
